APA reference: TV show, movie

My students stumped me the other day by asking how to reference a TV Show (Sex and the City) and a movie (Legally Blonde). I did a bit of research to find some examples:

Crystal, L. (Executive Producer). (1993, October 11). The MacNeil/Lehrer news hour. New York and Washington, DC.: Public Broadcasting Service.

A Television Broadcast

Important, I.M. (Producer). (1990, November 1). The Nightly News Hour. [Television broadcast]. New York: Central Broadcasting Service.

A Television Series

Bellisario, D.L. (Producer). (1992). Exciting Action Show. [Television series]. Hollywood: American Broadcasting Company.

A Single Episode of a Television Series

Wendy, S. W. (Writer), & Martian, I.R. (Director). (1986). The rising angel and the falling ape. [Television series episode]. In D. Dude (Producer), Creatures and monsters. Los Angeles: Belarus Studios.

And for movies...
Smith, J.D. (Producer), & Smithee, A.F. (Director). (2001). Really Big Disaster Movie [Motion picture]. United States: Paramount Pictures.
Or if the movie is hard to get...
Harris, M. (Producer), & Turley, M. J. (Director). (2002). Writing Labs: A History [Motion picture]. (Available from Purdue University Pictures, 500 Oval Drive, West Lafayette, IN 47907)
These example come from Purdue's OWL and www.park.edu/support/refAPA.asp

Intentional vomit

Here's a weird story about a high school student expelled from school and brought up on charges for throwing up (allegedly intentionally) on a Spanish teacher. Now I'm no legal expert, but how can anyone prove that the kid threw up intentionally?

Classic stories online

Here's a potentially valuable resource for ESL instructors and individual home learners: Light Up Your Brain was designed as a site for children, but also features some classic stories read by a professional voice talent. In addition to the audio version of the stories (either streaming or downloadable MP3), there's a link to the story text so you can read along visually. Among the story selections are The Emperor's New Clothes, The Velveteen Rabbit and The Little Mermaid.

Getting ready for grades

With 2 days of class before final exams begine, I've come to a realization - having classws with no curve take a lot of pressure off teachers assigning grades. Now in my experience students who do not get an A in an uncurved class are complaint candidates but there will be fewer complaints from B students in uncurved classes then the B,C, and D students in the curved classes.

In addition to dealing with fewer complaints, since there's no need to assign a certain number of each letter grade, when doing the uncurved class it doesn't matter if one student gets an 83 and another gets and 82. In the uncurved class I could give them both A grades if I wanted. In the curved class, 83 might be the cutiff ofr an A so that a student with one less point gets a B+. As you might imagine, I end up checking my math several times in those classes.

The reason I bring this up is because I only have 2 curved classes this semester. I like it like that.

University festival

Every university in Korea, including mine, has a Spring festival. This year classes after 1:00 on Tues., Thurs., and Fri. were cancelled as were all classes on Wednensday. With only a couple of weeks before final exams, this was big news for several of my night classes that missed an entire week of class.

The nice part is that we all get to relax a bit. Several teachers and I went to the student bars that get set up so that different clubs can make money while underage students sell alcohol to other underage students.
